In accordance with the election guidelines of the Ontario Federation of Home and School Associations (OFHSA), the Lawfield Home & School Association (LawfieldHSA) will be holding elections for all executive positions before the conclusion of the current school year.

To ensure a fair and transparent process that aligns with OFHSA standards, the following procedures have been established by the Nomination Committee:

 

Nominations

• Online Nominations Open:
  Nominations can be submitted through the LawfieldHSA website beginning at 11:59 PM on Friday, May 9th and will close at 11:59 AM on Tuesday, May 13th.

• Live Nominations at Meeting:
  Nominations may also be submitted live during the Zoom general meeting scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, May 13th.

 

Acceptance of Nominations

• Nominees will be given the opportunity to formally accept or decline their nomination during the meeting.

• In cases where only one individual is nominated and accepts for a given position, that person will be acclaimed and no vote will be required.

 

Voting Process (if needed)

• If two or more individuals accept nominations for the same position, a confidential vote will take place.

• Voting will begin two (2) hours after the conclusion of Tuesday’s meeting via a secure voting page on the LawfieldHSA website.

• Eligible members will receive an email with a secure link to vote for each contested position.

• The duration of the voting window will be decided during Tuesday’s meeting, based on the number of contested positions.

 

Results

• Once voting has concluded and results are verified by the Nomination Committee, the timing and format of result announcements (email and/or next meeting) will be decided via a vote by members at Tuesday’s meeting.

 

Confidentiality and Eligibility

• The voting process will be conducted in a confidential and secure manner, ensuring each eligible member votes only once, in accordance with OFHSA best practices.

• Only members in good standing, who have purchased a membership at least 20 days prior to the election, are eligible to vote.
